In January 2018, the Rainforest Alliance merged with UTZ, a global program and label for sustainable farming.

Position summary

As Monitoring and Evaluation Officer you work on the sector partnership (SP) program (2016-2020). Through the Sector Partnerships Program we strengthen the capacity of farmers, especially smallholders and female farmers, and civil society organizations in producing countries. We support them to work with governments and companies to engage in issues that require a sector wide approach. For more information on the SP program, see utz.org/?attachment_id=7451.

You work closely with several colleagues in Amsterdam (the senior M&E Officer, the SP Program manager, the Lobby and Advocacy expert the Partnerships Manager and thematic leads) and with our UTZ Country Focal Points in the nine countries, which are targeted by the SP program. Your role is to implement the monitoring system on SP program level and provide support to country level and project level monitoring, including the monitoring of capacity building and advocacy interventions. Your role includes improving the use of monitoring data for planning and learning.

The M&E Officer is based in the M&E department. He/she reports to the M&E Manager.

Responsibilities

SP program monitoring

  • Improve the efficiency of the program level monitoring system (e.g. reporting templates and database structure);
  • Improve the integration of the monitoring system in the annual planning process;
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative monitoring data and produce internal monitoring reports;
  • Support external reporting (annual progress report and IATI system).

Support SP country & project M&E

  • Support country level M&E of direct lobby & advocacy interventions/L&A logbook;
  • Support country level M&E of capacity building results/use of the CAT tool;
  • Support country focal points with the quality of project proposals, M&E systems and reports;
  • Support the use of the project and country level M&E data for organizational learning and reflection (e.g. link to ToC reflection workshops).

Qualifications

  • MA/MSc in relevant discipline, e.g. developments studies;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience;
  • Experience with qualitative methods and tools and qualitative analysis;
  • Experience with M&E of advocacy and capacity building interventions;
  • Self-managing team player with excellent intercultural skills;
  • Languages: Fluent in English, preferably also Spanish and/or French.

Commensurate with experience.

Position

We offer a temporary position for one year. Employment is based upon 32 to 36  hours/week.
